English Instructor/Trainer Aug 07- Current

Inlingua International School of Languages  Pune, India

Currently the head of English training at Inlingua, a Swiss based language institute. Profile includes instructing General Purpose English, Accelerated Professional English and Soft Skills (Business correspondence, Telephoning, Interviewing, Negotiation, Socializing Across Cultures) to corporate clients including multinational companies such as Honeywell Automation India and Whirlpool of India Ltd. As head trainer, all incoming trainee instructors must complete an instructional induction program delivered by myself over the course of one week. Duties also include curriculum development and the marketing of new programs.

 

Bookshop Sales Assistant/Office Administrator Feb 06- April 06
RMIT University Student Union Bookshop Melbourne, Victoria
Worked in administration and data entry for secondhand student run bookshop. Duties included general office work, use of cataloging software, inbound customer service, interoffice and outgoing mail, data entry, report processing, etc. Main duty was customer service at the counter, assisting students with a variety of their needs.

 

Early Childhood Educator March 05- May 05

Voluntary Work

 

Early Childhood Intern at Shreevatsa, a children’s orphanage part of Sassoon Hospital in Pune. Currently working with children in need of developmental assistance in the areas of physical, social and cognitive development.

 

Youth Mentor for Kids Can Free the Children Organization based out of Toronto, Canada on trips to India and Kenya for extensive volunteering and leadership training. Instructed courses on public speaking, time management, leadership, small group cooperation and college prep. Worked with Oprah’s Angel Network to construct a school in rural Kolkata. Participated in various conservation projects and volunteered in small clinics through the Gallmann Memorial Foundation in Kenya.

 

On Board of Directors and newsletter Editor in Chief for Youth Ambassadors for Peace Project in association with United Nations Office of the Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict. Traveled to Cambodia to study the effect of war and use of landmines on children. Work included gathering personal interviews of children being treated in war hospitals, visiting mine fields in three different regions and meeting with locals, heads of state and Non-governmental organizations.

 

Researcher and volunteer for Center for Communication and Development in Kolkata. Volunteered in a rehabilitation center for boys freed from exploitative child labor.
